Nathan Chin

  • Title
    Assistant Head Coach/Receivers

Nathan Chin, a Southern Oregon University alum and staple of the modern era of Raider football, begins the ninth season of his second stint at SOU in 2019, and his fourth with the title of assistant head coach.

Chin returned to the Raiders prior to the 2011 season. In 14 total years on staff, he's served as a receivers coach (2001-05, 11-12, 17-19), a defensive backs coach (2013-15) and special teams coordinator (2011-16).

He has also been the common denominator of SOU's best seasons: Chin is the only coach to have been on staff for the Raiders' last six postseason appearances (starting in 2001), a stretch that has included 12 NAIA Championship Series victories.

Chin was on SOU's roster as a quarterback in 1999 and 2000 following a standout prep career at Lost River High.

From 2001 to '03, he was a student assistant while he finished up degrees in math and business. He then served as a graduate assistant in 2004 and '05 while completing a Master's degree in social science.

He was the offensive coordinator at Mayville State (N.D.) in 2006-07 and was named the head coach at Mayville prior to the 2008 season. He remained through the 2010 campaign.

Chin has been married to former SOU soccer standout Lindsey Arkenburg since 2007. The couple have four children: Braden, Jaret, Landry and Trenten.
