Bill was an SOSC track and field star from 1962-65, holding records in six events: the 120 yard high hurdles, the 220 yard low hurdles, the 330 yard and 440 yard intermediate hurdles and the 400 and 1600 yard relays.  White was named the Outstanding Perfromer in the 1965 Oregon Collegiate Conference Championships and was a standout performer at the national track and field meet four years in a row.
