Only the fourth basketball player in school history to surpass the 1,000 career point plateau, Gordon Carrigan was a three-time Oregon Collegiate Conference all-star guard from 1958 to 61. He was an all-region pick in 1959-60 after averaging 15.7 points per game and helping the Raiders to a league title. Carrigan led the 1959 Raider football team and finished 11th nationally for receptions and receving yards. He was a repeat all-league selection as a running back and part-time quarterback as a senior in 1960. Carrigan, a two-time SOU Student-Athlete of the Year, became the school's first Academic All-American in 1959 and 60.
