Griff Yates broke onto the Raider football scene and put together one of the most impressive careers in program history during his time from 1996-99. Yates earned NAIA All-American honors in 1997, 1998 and 1999. He also earned Columbia Football Association Player of the Year honors and All-CFA honors in 1997 and 1998. In 1999, Yates earned All-NAIA Independent honors. After the final game of his senior season, Yates had re-written the school’s recordbook with 15 new school records. Yates finished his career with 4,559 rushing yards, breaking the previous record by more than 2,000 yards. As of induction, Yates held the school record for rushing yards in a season (1,713), rushing yards in a game (348), rushing average in a season (7.9), touchdowns in a game (5) and points in a game (30). He also ranks second in career rushing attempts (687), rushing attempts in a game (43), career rushing yards (4,559), career rushing touchdowns (57), season rushing touchdowns (20), career rushing average (6.6), career touchdowns (70) and career points (360). Following his college career, Yates signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
