Richard Hensel was SOC's first national wrestling champion, taking the NAIA title in 1977.  During his three year wrestling career, he compiled a 78-8-2 record.  Richard was the national Greco-Roman champion in 1974.  He captured Evergreen Conference championships in 1975 and 1976.  Hensel was choosen NAIA District II Athlete of the Year and was acknowledged as SOSC's top Scholar/Athlete for 1977.
