Southern Oregon University Athletics

Shirley Hanson, who graduated from SOSC (then SOC) in 1964, was a standout in track and field.  During her freshman year, she captured first place in the 50, 75, 100, 200, 440, mile, 400 relay, long jump, high jump, disc, and shot put in intrastate competition.  In later years, she continued to place first and second in these events.  Hanson also played basketball for the College.
