Southern Oregon University Athletics

Class of 1971, Vern played and starred in tennis at both #1 singles and #1 doubles.  Amassing a 69-14 singles record during his 4 years of intercollegiate competition, he captured 6 singles and 4 doubles championships.  Loy was team captain for 3 years.  Named NAIA District II Tennis Player of the Year from 1969-71, he received the NAIA District II Athlete of the Year award in 1971.  As an NAIA Tennis National Championship participant, he reached the final 16 twice and the final 32 once.
