Southern Oregon used big matches by
Mia Wortel (Estacada, Ore./Estacada) and
Sarah Holgen (Honolulu, Hawaii/Ashland) to win its ninth straight match with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Northwest tonight at McNeal Pavilion.
The Raiders are now 12-7 overall and 10-1 in Cascade Conference play. Northwest fell to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in conference action. SOU hosts Evergreen State Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Wortel and Holgen both finished with a match-high 10 kills. Wortel, who moved past Shelley Gorin tonight for seventh on SOU's career kills list, hit .562 with just one error and also had four blocks.

Lindsey Stone (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) had 37 assists and sophomore libero
Maggie Rivers (Salem, Ore./McNary) had a match-high 19 digs.
The Eagles came out and gave the Raiders fits in the first set, coming back from 16-11 to tie the set at 18-18.
Holgen and
Heather Porter (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) had back-to-back kills to give the Raiders a 21-18 lead, but back came Northwest to tie the set at 21-21 following a pair of SOU errors. Porter gave the Raiders the lead again at 22-21 and a pair of aces by Rivers paved the way for the first set victory.
The last two sets were not as difficult as the Raiders hit .310 in the second set victory and then held the Eagles to a -.056 attack percentage in the third set to wrap up the match.
Porter finished with nine kills for the Raiders and three blocks.
Lauren Holtz led Northwest with eight kills and also had six digs.
