Turnover prone Raiders fall to Wolves

Southern Oregon turned the ball over five times today as Western Oregon scored a 35-3 victory over the Raiders today at Raider Stadium.

Western Oregon improved to 4-3 overall with the victory. Southern Oregon fell to 1-5 on the season. The Raiders host Azusa Pacific next Saturday at Raider Stadium.

The Raider defense did all it could, holding the Wolves to a 7-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Southern's offense ran into trouble and Western took advantage.

The Raiders turned the ball over three times in the second half - all on interceptions.

Leading 14-0, Western picked off SOU quarterback Bryan Lee-Lauduski (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) for the fourth time in the game and wasted no time getting on the board. A 21-yard pass from Josh Riddell to Isaiah Smith pushed the WOU advantage to 21-0.

Following an interception that they couldn't convert, Western forced SOU to punt and added on to the lead with a 38-yard run by Riddell.

The Raiders finally got on the board at the 3:54 mark in the fourth quarter with a 35-yard field goal by senior Corey O'Neill to cut the lead to 28-3.

Western closed out the scoring with a 3-yard run by Ben Kuenzi.

For the game, Western Oregon outgained Southern 391-169.

Lee-Lauduski finished with 69 yards and five interceptions.

Marlon Rosales (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) finished with 69 yards rushing.

Kuenzi led Western in rushing with 90 yards, while Riddell passed for 181 yards on 17 of 26 passing with two inteceptions.

Damario Watson (San Francisco, Calif./McAteer) and Kevin Harrell (Napa, Calif./Vintage) led the SOU defense with 11 tackles each.
