A pair of second half goals helped the Southern Oregon women's soccer team score a 2-0 victory over Northwest today at University Field in Ashland.
Southern Oregon is now 6-7 overall and 4-1 in Cascade Conference play. Northwest fell to 5-4-2 overall and 4-3 in conference action.
The Raiders, winners of three straight, travel to Cascade and Concordia next weekend.
“It's another step forward for our side and now we look forward to our trip to Portland next weekend,” SOU head coach Jon Clement said. “We're thrilled to a get a win against a good Northwest team. They have some dangerous players and are very well coached so it's a good victory for sure.”
Stacy Hamer (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) put the Raiders on the board at 56 minute mark by cashing in off a scramble in front of the net following a cornerkick.
Sara Switzer (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) put the game out of reach at the 78:25 mark with a left-footed goal past the Northwest keeper.
“The was truly a total team effort for our side,” Clement said. “We got key contributions from the entire roster.”
