The 19th-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team fell 94-64 tonight to NCAA Division I Utah in an exhibition game at Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Raiders travel to Redding, Calif. Tuesday night to face Simpson University at 5:30 p.m.

SOU did what they could early to try and stay with the Utes.

A jumper by junior Ashley Baker (Grand Junction, Colo./Fruita) gave the Raiders an early 4-2 lead and a 3-pointer by Rhiannon Dickison (Redding, Calif./Anderson) tied the game at 7-7.

The Utes tried to pull away but a jumper by Carly Wood (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) trimmed the lead to 20-15 before Utah finally began to flex its muscle.

A 19-2 Utah run pushed the advantage to 39-17 with 5:08 to play in the first half and the Utes led 46-29 at the half.

Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) hit a layup early in the second half to get the lead to 50-35, but that's as close as SOU would get.

Junior Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line and finished with 19 points. Scott and Dickison both finished with 11 points.
