A big night by Southern Oregon junior Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) helped lead the SOU women to a 72-64 victory over Northwest University tonight in Kirkland, Wash.

The 20th-ranked Raiders are now 9-1 overall and 2-1 in Cascade Conference play. Northwest dropped to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference action.

Speer finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end. The 20 points came despite Speer only going 6-for-16 from the free throw line.

Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) added 15 points and Ashley Baker (Grand Junction, Colo./Fruita) went for 11 points for the Raiders.

Rachel Mitchell finished with 22 points for the Eagles.

The Raiders led 39-33 at halftime and the Eagle came back and cut the lead to one in the second half before Speer hit on back-to-back buckets to give the Raiders some breathing room.

SOU held Northwest to 36 percent shooting for the game.

Southern Oregon returns to play following Christmas when they travel to Los Angeles to face Azusa Pacific (Dec. 29) and Hope International (Dec. 30).
