SOU Women Continue To Roll

The 16th-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team opened up Cascade Conference play tonight with a 91-66 victory over Eastern Oregon at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders are now 8-0 overall and 1-0 in Cascade Conference play. The Raiders have won 21 straight home games and host 23rd-ranked College of Idaho Saturday night. Eastern Oregon dropped to 4-2 overall.

The Raiders used an impressive first half to turn the game into a blowout.

SOU shot 58 percent in the first 20 minutes as they turned a 13-9 lead into a 45-24 halftime advantage. Meanwhile, Eastern Oregon his just seven of 24 shots (29 percent).

"I was really impressed with our defense tonight," SOU Head Coach Lynn Kennedy said. "We forced them into some tough shots and we were able to get out and run and get our offense going."

The second half was much of the same for the Raiders.

SOU finished the game shooting 49 percent and forced 23 turnovers.

Rhiannon Dickison (Redding, Calif./Anderson) led the Raiders with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) added 17 points and seven assists and Ashley Baker (Grand Junction, Colo./Fruita) had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Ashlee Michelson led Eastern with 17 points.
