SOU-Concordia Boxscore
The Concordia University women's basketball team rolled to its 11th-straight victory as they knocked off 20th-ranked Southern Oregon 74-56 tonight at McNeal Pavilion.
The Cavaliers are now 11-1 overall and 4-0 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
Rebecca Gimeno, one of six Concordia players in double-digits, had a team-high 15 points.
Junior
Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) led SOU with 17 points and 14 rebounds. It marked the fifth-straight double-double for Speer.
Emily Brookins (Central Point, Ore./Crater) had 13 points and
Rhiannon Dickison (Redding, Calif./Anderson) had 11 points.
Concordia came out and jumped on the Raiders early as SOU missed its first eight shots and made just five of 32 shots in the first half (15 percent) and the Cavs led 35-19 at halftime.
SOU tried to come back in the second half, cut the Concordia lead to 48-38 on a Speer bucket and a pair of free throws by senior
Kellyn Cooper (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) had the lead at 48-40.
But that's as close as SOU would get. A pair of free throws and a three point play pushed the lead back to 14 and Concordia cruised to the victory.
