The Southern Oregon women's soccer team wraps up a three-match homestand this weekend with a pair of Cascade Conference matches.
The Raiders (2-6-1, 0-1) host College of Idaho (7-1, 2-0) Friday at 2 p.m. and Eastern Oregon (2-4, 2-0) Saturday at 3 p.m.
“It will be a difficult weekend, but one I know we are all looking forward to,” SOU head coach Jon Clement said. “There's some pressure to win now, but to win at a high level you have to be good at dealing with pressure. This will be a good test for our team and one I know we can handle.”
The Raiders opened Cascade Conference play last week with a 1-0 home setback at home to Oregon Tech.
“Last week we started to find our form,” Clement said. “I felt we played with the right combination of heart and IQ. It's now a question of being more dynamic in and around the penalty area.”
College of Idaho comes into play with a five-match win streak, including conference victories over Evergreen and Northwest. Eastern Oregon is also 2-0 with victories over the same two teams.
“The College of Idaho presents a stiff challenge,” Clement said. They are very mobile and confident and we'll have to keep them in front of us and take up intelligent attacking positions. Eastern Oregon as usual will be a tough team.”
