Southern Oregon's
Stephanie Carr (Upland, Calif./Upland) netted a second half goal to lead the SOU women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Evergreen State today in Olympia, Wash.
The Raiders improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2 in Cascade Conference play. Evergreen State dropped to 1-6-4 overall and 0-5 in conference action. Southern Oregon travels to Northwest tomorrow afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Carr found the net midway through the second half and the Raider defense held the Geoducks the rest of the way.
"I thought the team did a good job of stepping up in the second half," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "And our defense was outstanding."
Clement also praised the play of
Lauren Maserjian (Placentia, Calif./Valencia) and
Mo Costello (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt).
"Lauren made very responsible and positive decisions," Clement said. "Mo played great defense in the middle of the field."
