Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) and
Carly Wood (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) supplied the offense as 11th-ranked Southern Oregon scored an 81-72 victory over William Jessup tonight in Klamath Falls in the opener of the Oregon Tech Classic.
Southern Oregon improved to 10-1 with the victory. William Jessup dropped to 4-8 overall.
Speer turned in her 10th double-double of the season with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Wood came off the bench to pour in 16 points and three 3-pointers.
Gabe Johnson (Corvallis, OR/Corvallis) added 12 points.
Aleta Stamps had 14 points for the Warriors.
The Raiders ran out to a 35-27 halftime lead after a 14 point and 11 rebound effort by Speer in the first 20 minutes of action. Senior
Keri Nakamura (Honolulu, Hawaii/Mid-Pacific Institute) ended the half with a steal and a basket for the Raiders.
Southern Oregon moved the lead up to 14 at 65-51 with under eight minutes to play after a 3-pointer by Wood and a steal and jumper by Speer. Wood pushed the lead to 18 at 77-59 at the 3:19 mark on a jumper and the cushion was enough for the Raiders to hold on.
