Speer Climbs Scoring List As Raiders Roll

Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) continued her climb up the Southern Oregon career scoring list tonight as the ninth-ranked Raiders rolled past Simpson 65-46 in Redding.

Southern Oregon improved to 12-1 overall with the victory and returns conference play against Eastern>. Simpson dropped to 0-15 overall.

Speer recorded her 12 double-double in 13 games with 19 points and 14 rebounds. In the process, Speer passed Nada Janackovic (1,515) for second on SOU's career scoring list. SOU Hall of Famer Melissa Bogh holds the school record with 1,865 points. Gabe Johnson (Corvallis, OR/Corvallis) added 11 points and four assists for the Raiders, while Carly Wood (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) finished with nine points.

Paige Barrett had 12 points for the Red Hawks.

The Raiders used a pair of 3-pointers by freshman Celonna Arrington (Long Beach, Calif./Bellflower) to take a 29-24 halftime lead after shooting just 35 percent from the field and only 45 percent from the free throw line on 5 of 11 shooting.

Southern Oregon opened up the second half with a 8-0 run, including six points from Speer. The Raiders kept the pressure on and ran out to a 16-5 run to put the game away with just over 12 minutes to play.
