Yotes Trip Up Raiders In Ugly Game

The ninth-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team committed 43 turnovers and shot just 16 percent from the field in a 58-33 setback at College of Idaho tonight.

College of Idaho improved to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 12-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play, including three straight conference setbacks.

Whitney Owen led the Coyotes with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Brette Rubie finished with 10 points.

Southern Oregon was led by Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia)'s 11 points and 16 rebounds.

The Raiders made just four field goals in the first half and weren't much better in the second half, connecting on just five field goals. SOU also shot just 44 percent from the free throw line and were held without a 3-pointer.

The Yotes, who 29-15 at the half, was not much better - shooting 30 percent from the field, making one 3-pointer and shooting just 68 percent from the free throw line. The Yotes also committed 30 turnovers in the victory.

Southern Oregon returns to action Dec. 30 when they host Northwest Christian.
