The 23rd-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team clinched a first round home game for the Cascade Conference playoffs with their 70-55 victory over the Warner Pacific Knights tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

SOU improved to 21-4 overall and 13-3 in Cascade Conference play with the victory. Warner Pacific dropped to 12-13 overall and 8-8 in conference action.

With the win, the Raiders increased their winning streak to 10 games going all the way back to Jan. 6 when they fell to Oregon Tech on the road.

“We started off slow, but we wanted to push it,” SOU head coach Lynn Kennedy, “In the second half we wanted to push it and grow the lead to 20, and that is what we got.”

The Raiders were led by junior Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia)'s 16th double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Speer passes Denise Berry for third on SOU's career list for rebounds.

Warner Pacific's Jacque Barton finished with a team high 15 points and four rebounds.

Southern Oregon jumped out to a 39-27 lead at halftime after letting the Knights take an 11-1 lead that grew to 22-12 midway through the first half.

Speer led the Raiders in the first half comeback with 10 points and eight rebounds with senior Rhiannon Dickison (Redding, Calif./Anderson) adding nine points and a pair of 3-pointers.

The Raider's full court pressure proved to be too much in second half jumping out to a 59-34 lead with nine minutes left in the game. The Raiders finished with 14 total steals.

SOU will host Oregon Tech on Tuesday and Northwest Christian Friday at McNeal Pavilion to finish out their home schedule for the regular season.
