Ashley's Sherr's goal with 3:40 to play in the first overtime was the difference as Fresno Pacific knocked off Southern Oregon 1-0 today at University Field.

Fresno Pacific improved to 1-1 overall and Southern Oregon dropped to 1-4-1 on the season. The Raiders host Simpson next Friday at 1 p.m.

The Raiders came out with a lot of energy in the first half, out-shooting the Sunbirds 8-6.

That started to change in the second half and overtime.

“Right now we aren't fit enough,” SOU head coach Jon Clement said. “And because of that we are not making smart decisions late games and it's killing us.”

After SOU goalkeeper Jessica Kuehlwein (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City) held an attack Sunbird offense at bay in the second half, the Raiders still forced overtime with some late defense.

In the overtime period, Kuehlwein turned away a shot by FPU's Ida Rodriguez at the 7:20 mark, but four minutes later, Rodriguez found Sherr to put the match away.

“I thought Jessica played great today,” Clement said. “She was very good with her hands and made some great decisions. Fresno Pacific had two really good players and they were the difference today.”
