The Linfield defense forced six turnovers and the Linfield offense came away with over 470 yards as the Wildcats scored a 37-21 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at Raider Stadium.

Linfield, ranked 13th in the latest NCAA Division III Top 25 poll, improved to 3-0 overall. Southern Oregon dropped to 1-3 overall and travels to Western Oregon next Saturday.

Linfield held Southern Oregon to 57 yards in the first half and had a 27-7 lead, with a couple a Trevor Patterson touchdown receptions.

Southern Oregon's first half touchdown was setup by an 84-yard kickoff return by junior Vance Beach (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson). After a pass interference call, sophomore Brandon Baldwin (Palo Cedro, Calif./Foothill) punched it in from two-yards out to cut the Linfield to 13-7.

But the Wildcats answered right back with a 61-yard Patterson touchdown reception and then Patterson scored again, this time from 41 yards out just before the half to kill the SOU momentum.

Linfield scored early in the third quarter on a 10-play and 69-yard drive to slam the door on the Raiders.

SOU scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter. Cole McKenzie (Red Bluff, Calif./Red Bluff) caught a two-yard touchdown from Paul Sweeney (South San Francisco, Calif./Sared Heart Cathedral) and Ian Lloyd (Tracy, Calif./Merrill) scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from freshman Alex Miller (Mountain View, Calif./Aragon) late in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders had four interceptions and two fumbles. Linfield's Drew Fisher had three of the interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Baldwin led the SOU offense with 142 yards on 22 carries.

Tyler Bungard (Hillmar, Calif./Hillmar) finished with 10 tackles for the Raiders, while Thomas Sandoval (Santa Rosa, Calif./Piner) had nine stops.

Aaron Williams finished with 101 yards rushing and Patterson had 170 yards receiving. Aaron Boehmen completed 26 of 40 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns.
