In a game that ended in controversy, the 20th-ranked College of Idaho scored a 65-64 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at McNeal Pavilion.
The loss leaves the Raiders with a 15-6 overall record and 4-6 in Cascade Conference play. College of Idaho improves to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference. Southern Oregon hosts Eastern Oregon tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m.
The controversy put a damper on an exciting by two of the usual top teams in the conference race.

Ashley Baker (Grand Junction, Colo./Fruita) came up with the ball underneath the hoop and put a shot back up. In a flurry of activity, a whistle sounded for a foul and the final buzzer sounded. After conferring, the referees ruled the foul occurred after the buzzer had sounded - ending the game. SOU filed a protest following the game, claiming the foul occurred before the buzzer.
Senior
Jacki Speer (Centralia, Wash./Centralia) was the star of the night for the Raiders, scoring 27 points and coming away with 13 rebounds.
Ashley Baker (Grand Junction, Colo./Fruita) finished with eight points and 16 boards.
Nicole Bruce and Marquina Gilliam-Hicks both had 11 points for the Yotes.
The Raiders looked to take control of the game to start the second half, going on a 25-10 run to start the second half for a 49-35 lead with 10:54 to play following a
Krystal Smith (Olympia, Wash./River Ridge) layup.
The Yotes came right back and took a 53-52 lead with just under five minutes to play and the two teams fought back-and-forth the rest of the way.
A layup by Whitney Owen gave the Yotes a 65-64 lead and set up the controversial final seconds of the game.
