Wildcats Start Quickly In Victory Over Raiders

The NCAA Division II Central Washington football team jumped out early on offense and shined on defense as the Wildcats scored a 27-0 victory over Southern Oregon today in Ellensburg, Wash.

Central Washington improved to 4-3 on the season. Southern Oregon dropped to 2-4 on the season and hosts NCAA Division III power Mary Hardin Baylor next Saturday at Raider Stadium.

The Wildcats jumped on the Raiders early, flying out to a 17-0 lead at half.

Central scored on a 41-yard field goal and a pair of touchdown passes by Ryan Robertson and out-gained the Raiders 260-24 in the first half.

In the second half, the two teams played somewhat equal with the Wildcats scoring a late touchdown and field goal.

For the game, the Wildcats held Southern Oregon to 112 yards and finished the game with 432 yards of offense.

Paul Sweeney (South San Francisco, Calif./Sared Heart Cathedral) finished the game with 110 yards on 12 of 30 passing with a long of 39. Vance Beach (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) had four catches for 22 yards, while Danny Keenan (Pacifica, Calif./Terra Nova) had 43 yards on two catches.

The SOU running game, playing without an injured Brandon Baldwin (Palo Cedro, Calif./Foothill), was paced by Marshawn Friloux (Bellflower, Calif./Bellflower) and his 28 yards on 12 carries.

Robertson put up an impressive performance for the Wildcats, completing 29 of 38 passes for 322 yards.

The Southern Oregon defense was led by Jake Kyle (Fall River, Calif./Fall River) and Sam Latham (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley). Kyle had a game-high 11 tackles, while Latham finished with 10 tackles and two tackles-for-loss.
