Second Half Rally Comes Up Short For Raiders

Playing against one of the top NCAA Division III program's in the Nation, the Southern Oregon women came up just short and dropped a 73-68 decision at George Fox tonight.

The Bruins, ranked eighth in the USA Today, ESPN Top 25 Division III poll, improved to 2-0 on the season. Southern Oregon dropped to 3-3 on the season.

Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) led the Raiders with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Jamie Roupp (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) had six points and six rebounds.

Hannah Munger had 23 points for George Fox and Megan Arnoldy had 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite a rash of turnovers late in the first half, the Raiders trailed just 73-68 at the halftime break.

Southern Oregon then jumped out to an 11-4 run to open the second half and after a 3-pointer by Scott led 42-37.

The two teams were tied three more times before the Bruins took the lead for good.

Southern Oregon travels to Salem Saturday to face Simon Fraser.
