The Southern Oregon women's soccer team scored its first win of the 2010 season with a 1-0 victory over William Jessup today in Roseville, Calif.
The Raiders are now 1-1-1 and hosts Linfield in the home opener Sunday at 4 p.m.
Freshman
Keanae Loera (Camino Island, Wash./Stanwood) scored the game winner for the Raiders, with a header off a free kick at the 87 minute mark.
"It was a great pass from Alyssa (Bricker) and a wonderful header from Keanae," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "It was a very patient game and we didn't play fast enough in the first half. We changed it in the second half and spent the whole half attacking. It was a workman-like performance."
SOU's
Jessica Kuehlwein (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City) was credited with the shutout after coming away with two saves. SOU out-shot William Jessup 11-5.
Denise Powell (Grants Pass, Ore./Hidden Valley) had two shots to lead the Raiders.
