The Southern Oregon women's soccer team improved on their best-ever start to a season with a 2-1 double overtime victory over Pacific today at University Field in Ashland.

The Raiders are now 4-1-1, with four straight victories and all of those coming in overtime. Overall, the Raiders have played five straight overtime matches. Pacific fell to 0-3 on the season.

Senior Stacy Szeto (Roseville, Calif./Oakmont) was the hero in overtime, heading in a loose ball from teammate Stephanie Carr (Upland, Calif./Upland) to give the Raiders the victory.

"Our persistency of effort is really good," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "Collectively our defense was ok, but our soccer IQ is lacking and our decision making is putting us in some tough situations."

SOU got on the board in the 34th minute of the first half off an own goal that followed a corner kick. With the ball bouncing in front of the net, the ball was batted into net by a Pacific player for a 1-0 lead.

Pacific tied the match in the 57th minute with a moon shot from 37 yards out that bounced over SOU goalkeeper Jessica Kuehlwein (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City).

Overall, the Raiders out-shot the Boxers 22-4 and had a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks.
