The Southern Oregon women held Oregon Tech to 13 points in the first half on the way to a 62-48 victory tonight in Klamath Falls.
Southern Oregon improved to 13-8 overall and 6-3 in Cascade Conference play. SOU travels to College of Idaho next Friday. Oregon Tech dropped to 10-11 overall and 2-7 in conference.
Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) led the Raiders with 17 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.
Josi McDermott (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) added 12 points and Nalani Barnes had 13 rebounds.
Aundrea Albright led Oregon Tech with 10 points.
Southern Oregon jumped out on the Owls early and a Scott 3-pointer helped the Raiders to an 11-2 lead at the first media timeout at the 11:36 mark. The Owls started the game 1 of 21 from the field and 0-for-10 from the 3-point line.
The SOU lead grew to 18-5 as Oregon Tech's offensive woes stretched to a 2-for-30 effort from the field and SOU held a 23-13 lead at the half.
The two teams combined to go 13-for-68 from the field and 3-for-24 from the 3-point line in the first half.
Oregon Tech scored the first six points of the second half to cut the lead to 23-19, but the Raiders continued to keep the Owls at bay as a basket and free throw gave SOU a 42-31 lead.
After Oregon Tech cut the lead to four again midway through the second half, SOU quickly pushed it to 12 at 55-43 on a pair of free throws by Scott.
After that it was all SOU.
Oregon Tech finished the night shooting 22 percent from the field.
