The Northwest Christian women won their fourth game in five tries with an 80-58 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at McNeal Pavilion.
The Beacons improved to 10-13 overall and 6-7 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 13-12 overall and 6-7 in conference. The Raiders travel to Northwest next Friday.
Lindsey Shearer led the Beacons with 24 points, followed by Sheena Alexander's 18 points and Hope Williams' 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) came off the bench for 20 points to lead the Raiders.
Krystal Smith (Olympia, Wash./River Ridge) added 12 points.
The Beacons came out of the gates quickly, hitting six of their first 10 shots for a 15-3 lead.
The lead grew to 23-12 and 33-19 before the Raiders came back, ending the half on a 10-6 run to cut the Northwest Christian halftime lead to 39-29.
Scott and Alexander both had 14 points at the half.
The Raiders got the deficit to single-digits at 49-40 on a 3-pointer by
Carly Wood (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) with 14:00 to play, but the Beacons responded with a 15-6 run to break open the game once again.
The Raiders shot 27 percent in the second half and 36 percent in the second half.
The Beacons took advantage of a 21-for-24 effort from the free throw line, while the Raiders made just 11 of their 16 trips to the line.
