Raiders Shut Out Warner Pacific 4-0

ASHLAND, Ore. –
Southern Oregon scored three first-half goals and added one more in the second period as the Raiders shut out Warner Pacific 4-0 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at University Field.

With the win, SOU improves to 4-4-1 overall this season and 1-0 in the CCC. Warner Pacific falls to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Raiders return to action Monday, when they host No. 4 Concordia (Ore.) in a conference match at 2 p.m. at University Field.

“It's really good to get a lot of players to create good attacking positions and to really get some good rhythm behind our play,” SOU head coach Jon Clement said.” “We're getting closer and closer to putting together 90 minutes straight.”

Stephanie Carr (Upland, Calif./Upland) opened the scoring for SOU with her sixth goal of the year, knocking it in from five yards out to the left side of the goal following a corner kick in the 15th minute. Chenin Young (Upland, Calif./Upland) made it 2-0 Raiders in the 36th minute, taking Sara Dutra (Hanford, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial)'s corner kick from 15 yards out and kicking it over the head of Warner Pacific goalkeeper Nikita Rivera.

Less than one minute before halftime, Alexis Mahoney (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) took a pass from Sydney Paulson on the left side of the goal and scored from five yards out after Rivera had been drawn out of the goal. Following halftime, Serena DeChristofaro (Martinez, Calif./Alhambra) headed Sara Dutra (Hanford, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial)'s corner kick into the left side of the goal from about five yards out to make it a 4-0 contest in the 77th minute.

“The fact that we scored goals a number of different ways was very encouraging,” Clement said. “It was great to get contribution from our entire roster today. I really liked our effort.”

The Raiders outshot the Knights 25-3 in the contest, and SOU held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
