LAKELAND, Fla. – Southern Oregon closed out a 3-0 trip to Florida with a 71-61 women's basketball victory over Southeastern Saturday night at SEU Sportsplex.
With the win, Southern Oregon improves to 5-0 to start the season. The Raiders return to action with a pair of exhibitions next weekend at Boise State and Cal. State Bakersfield before playing their next counting contest against Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif., on Nov. 14.
Southern Oregon shot 13 free throws in the first half to help the Raiders take a 34-30 halftime lead. Following the break, SOU connected on 4-of-8 attempts from beyond the arc and 15-of-36 shots from the field to pull away to the 10-point victory.
The Raiders finished the game with a .385 shooting percentage (25-of-65) from the field, while Southeastern shot .333 (20-of-60).
Krysten Copeland (Rohnert Park, Calif./Santa Rosa High School) led the way with 15 points and six rebounds in only 16 minutes of play.
Josi McDermott (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) added 12 points and five rebounds in only 14 minutes, while
Angelica Cahee (Oroville, Calif./) scored 10 and grabbed seven rebounds in a team-high 26 minutes of action.
Southeastern's Ashley Wilson and Tori Robison tied for the game-high total with 16 points apiece, with Ciara Carter adding 12 in the loss. Southern Oregon out-rebounded Southeastern 54-33, with 10 different players grabbing multiple rebounds for the Raiders.
