LA GRANDE – Ninth-ranked Eastern Oregon shot 60 percent in the second half as the Mountaineers pulled away to defeat Southern Oregon 80-51 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball action Friday night.
The loss drops Southern Oregon's record to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the CCC. Eastern Oregon improves to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Raiders will travel to Caldwell, Idaho, for a conference game against College of Idaho tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. (M.S.T.)
Krysten Copeland (Rohnert Park, Calif./Santa Rosa High School) finished with 12 points to lead the Raiders, as SOU struggled to hit only 27.6 percent (16-of-58) of its shots in the game. Dominique Johnson scored 18 points and dished out six assists to lead Eastern Oregon.
The Raiders held EOU to 37.5 percent shooting (12-of-32) in the first half, but SOU only made seven of 28 attempts in the opening half as the Mountaineers took a 33-24 lead at the break. Eastern Oregon pulled away with a 47-point output in the second half while limiting the Raiders to only 27 in the period.
