Despite another big game from
Jamie Roupp (Ashland, Ore./Ashland), second-seeded Corban put an end to Southern Oregon's season with an 80-69 victory tonight in Salem.
Corban advances to the semifinals with a 19-10 record. Southern Oregon's season ends at 16-15.
Katie Steigleman led all scorers with 24 points for Corban. Tess Bennett added 18 points, while Jennesa Miller had 13 points and Becky Buhler finished with 12 points.
Roupp, a game after a triple-double, led SOU with 18 points and nine rebounds. ,
Carly Wood (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) had 13 points, while
Whitney Scott (Tumwater, Wash./Black Hills) finished with 12 points and
Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) had 10 points.
Corban's victory was keyed by 11 key 3-pointers.
A basket by
Lindsey Scheffler (Castle Rock, Wash./Toutle Lake) gave SOU a 40-39 lead to start the second half, but Steigleman drained a 3-pointer to give Corban the lead back on the next possession.
A basket by Roupp tied the game with a jumper at 42-42, but Steigleman nailed another 3-pointer to give Corban a 47-42 lead.
Despite back-to-back 3-pointers by Wood, the Raiders wouldn't get closer then 51-50 with 14:03 to play.
Corban shot 46 percent for the game, compared to 40 percent for the Raiders.
