Box Score ASHLAND – Emily Tsugawa knocked a free kick off the left post and into the corner of the net with 12 seconds remaining in the overtime period to earn a 1-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory for Corban over host Southern Oregon Friday afternoon at University Field.

The win improves Corban's record to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Southern Oregon falls to 6-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the CCC. The Raiders will return to action Sunday, when they will host Northwest Christian in a 1 p.m. matchup for their final home match of the regular season. Senior Day festivities will begin 15 minutes prior to kickoff to honor the four seniors on SOU's squad.

Tsugawa scored the game-winner, her eighth goal of the season, in the 100th minute following an SOU foul. She shot from the right side about 15 yards out and hit the inside of the left post to bounce the ball into the net and clinch the Golden Goal victory for the Warriors.

“That is a tough one,” Clement said of the loss to Corban. “I don't think it's possible to dominate a team as much as we did in the second half and not be ahead in the score line.”

Southern Oregon held possession throughout the second half, tallying nine of their 14 corner kicks in the period and out-shooting Corban 10-1 during that stretch. The Raiders finished the match with a 20-10 shot advantage and a 14-3 lead in corners, but Corban goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mendenhall came away with six saves and SOU was unable to find the net.

“I thought we broke them down over and over again, but we need to do a better job of finishing off chances,” Clement said. “We just have to put the ball away. The longer you let a team hang in the game, the more you risk the chance of something going against you and that's what happened today.”

Stephanie Carr (Upland, Calif./Upland) finished with a match-high 10 shots – totaling Corban's team output on her own – including three on goal. She had a couple one-on-one chances, but Mendenhall made a pair of impressive saves to protect the shutout.

“We'll bounce back,” Clement said. “I fully expect us to come out ready on Sunday with our top performance.”
