Box Score ASHLAND – Ninth-ranked Eastern Oregon took a 15-point halftime lead and never let Southern Oregon within single digits in the second half as the Mountaineers defeated the Raiders 82-60 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball action Friday night at Bob Riehm Arena.
Southern Oregon falls to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Eastern Oregon improves to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the CCC. Both teams return to action Saturday, with Southern Oregon hosting No. 22 College of Idaho and EOU heading to Klamath Falls to take on Oregon Tech at 5:30 p.m.
Ashley Claussen (Scotts Valley, Calif./Santa Cruz) led SOU with 12 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Allison Gida (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) finished with 10 points as the only other Raider to reach double-figures. Southern Oregon shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) in the loss, while EOU connected on 44.6 percent of its shots (33-of-74).
Brooke Randall led the Mountaineers with 21 points, while Kelsea Hurliman added 18 as both players made four three-pointers in the game. Korrie Bourn finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds to tally the double-double, and her seven assists were also a game-high total.
After
Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) opened the game with a basket, Eastern Oregon used a 13-2 run to claim an early nine-point lead. The Raiders rallied to tie it up at 18-18 following a free throw by
Kiara Moore (Phoenix, Ariz./Tolleson Union), but a few minutes later the Mountaineers scored 10 consecutive points to take a double-digit lead. They stretched their advantage to 40-25 going into halftime. Eastern Oregon pushed its lead to as many as 24 points in the second half, never allowing the Raiders to pull any closer than 12 points back.
