Box Score ASHLAND – Southern Oregon scored three goals in the first 30 minutes as the Raiders opened the 2012 season with a 3-0 victory over Trinity Lutheran Thursday afternoon at University Field.
The Raiders improved to 1-0 on the young season, with the Eagles falling to 0-1 after the loss. Southern Oregon returns to action Saturday morning, when the Raiders will host The Master's in an 11 a.m. matchup.
Kennedy Roteman (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) opened the scoring early for SOU, taking a pass from
Danielle Stave (Petaluma, Calif./St Vincent de Paul) on the left side and knocking it in from eight yards out in the 10th minute of the game. Seven minutes later
Stacy Hamer (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) made it 2-0 as she took the ball up the field herself and shot it to the left of the TLC keeper.
Returning honorable mention All-American
Stephanie Carr (Upland, Calif./Upland) picked up the Raiders' final goal, working her way past the keeper to score her 24th career goal. The Raiders finished the match with 16 total shots, including six on goal, while limiting Trinity Lutheran to only four shots. Starting goalkeeper
Kelsey Clement (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) played the first 81 minutes for the Raiders, with
Katelyn Allen (Citrus Heights, Calif./El Camino Fundamental) coming in for the final nine minutes of the shutout.
