Box Score ASHLAND – In a rematch of a 2011 Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal match, Southern Oregon and Northwest played to a scoreless tie Sunday afternoon at University Field.

Southern Oregon goes to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, while Northwest goes to 1-8-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCC. The Raiders return to action next week when they travel to Portland for a 12 p.m. Friday match at Warner Pacific and a Sunday match against Concordia at 2 p.m.

“That was quite a battle today,” SOU head coach Jon Clement. “We knew that Northwest was going to come with a super amount of energy, which they did. I was really proud of our team. For the most part, we were able to create some goal-scoring chances.”

Both teams had chances throughout the match, as Southern Oregon finished with 11 shots and Northwest tallied seven. The Eagles tallied 17 fouls, while SOU had seven, and SOU goalkeeper Kelsey Clement (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) made two saves while NU keeper Patty Hughes made four.

Stacy Hamer (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) led SOU with three shots, while Acacia Johnson finished with a team-high two shots for Northwest.

“I felt like our flow in the overtime was fantastic,” Clement said. “It would be nice to get the win, but we're happy with our team defending and getting the shutout and get us some momentum with a pair of shutouts at home heading into the next weekend of conference play.”
