Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Southern Oregon University women's basketball team made its considerable size advantage count Friday night in an 86-72 win against Evergreen State at the Costantino Recreation Center.

The Raiders, who came in with the fifth-most rebounds in the country, improved to 15-4 overall and 4-3 in the Cascade Conference thanks in part to a 27-15 advantage on the glass that gave them a 39-22 halftime lead.

Allison Gida (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) pulled down eight of those rebounds on her way to a career-high 15. After going 0-for-6 in the first half, she also highlighted SOU's hot-shooting second by going 5-for-7 in the second, finishing with 17 points, seven assists and six steals.

SOU shot 60 percent (15-for-25) as a team in the second half, where Bree Park (Bellingham, Wash./Meridian) hit three of her 3-pointers, bouncing back from a 13-for-33 showing in the first. Park finished 5-for-8 outside with 15 points off the bench, Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier) went 8-for-11 with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Autumn Durand (Onalaska, Wash./Onalaska) chipped in 12 points and six boards.

The Geoducks (6-7, 2-4), all but one of them standing under 5-foot-9, were stymied offensively, shooting 8-for-27 in the first half and 36.4 percent (24-for-66) in the game. Sammi Clark led the way with 16 points but needed 22 shots to get them.

SOU's lead was as large as 23 points, 53-31, on a Cambie Edwards (Burglington, Wash./Burlington-Edison) bucket with 15 minutes left. Park had opened the frame with two straight 3-pointers.

The Raiders opened up the lead early with a 10-1 run, sparked by a couple Park 3-pointers, that made it 27-13.

Evergreen cut it to 72-64 with 3:23 left on Jessica Denmon's free throws, but never any closer. Denmon registered 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and a couple steals.

Led by Gida's defense, the Raiders forced 12 of Evergreen's 19 turnovers before halftime.

Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma) was limited by foul trouble but totaled eight points and five rebounds in 17 minutes. Point guard Ashley Claussen (Scotts Valley, Calif./Santa Cruz) only played 16 minutes herself – she was out the entire second half – and had five points.

The Raiders will travel Saturday to Northwest (11-7, 3-3) for a 5:30 p.m. game on Saturday. The Eagles upset 20th-ranked Oregon Tech on Friday.
