ASHLAND – Two teams still trying to position themselves for the postseason will try to throw a wrench in Southern Oregon's playoff plans as the Cascade Conference women's soccer regular season winds down this weekend.

Three games remain for the fourth-place Raiders (4-8-1 overall, 3-2-1 CCC) and Portland will provide the setting for the first two. They'll be at Tuominen Yard to play third-ranked Concordia (11-1-1, 4-1) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, then at Portland Adventist Academy to play fifth-place Warner Pacific (5-7-2, 2-2-1) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

SOU has an unbeaten streak going for the first time this season following a 1-0 win over Eastern Oregon and a 1-1 draw with College of Idaho last week. Staying in the top four would earn the Raiders a first-round home game in the CCC playoffs, but all they need is a top-six finish to get in.

The bad news is that Concordia is still defending NAIA champion Concordia, and Warner Pacific is improved – which Concordia found out when it was tied 1-1 with the Knights through 80 minutes of play on Saturday. (The Cavaliers eventually won, 2-1.)

"We've been playing really well, but these are obviously two very tough opponents and goals are hard to come by on the road," SOU coach Jenni Rosenberg said. "I think we've been going up, up, up, and we're gonna have to go up a little more to do well on this trip."

About Concordia: The powerhouse is still intact until further notice, though the Cavaliers have shown at least a little more vulnerability than they did last year, most notably falling victim to a 1-0 upset two weeks ago at College of Idaho. Still, that and the goal against Warner Pacific are the only ones they've given up in conference play, and they're averaging about two of their own per game on the season. Alicia Kolter has a team-high six goals, Erin Huisingh has five and two assists, and Ariel Kanable has four goals and three assists.

The Raiders will be attempting to smooth out some rough history with the Cavs; they've lost 19 straight in the series and been shut out in eight of the last 10. Two tight ones got them last year, 2-1 in Ashland and 2-0 in a semifinal matchup in Portland.

About Warner Pacific: It's been seven years since the Knights have won more than three conference games, but they have four left this season to change that. Some added firepower, in the form of Crystal Foster and Cristal Ruvalcaba, has made them a viable threat in the conference. Ashley Valencia leads the team with five goals and four assists, while Foster and Ruvalcaba have scored four times apiece.

SOU dominated the 2013 matchup, 4-0. The Raiders have won the last five in the series and lead 11-3-2 all-time.

SOU leaders: Megan McArthur (San Jose, Calif./Presentation) pulled back into a tie with Presley Lambert (Santa Clarita, Calif./Hart) for the team lead in goals last week, cashing in the lone score for her third on Kendra Madaras-Kelly (Boise, Idaho/Mountain View)'s assist… Madaras-Kelly leads the team in shots on goal with 12 and, along with Jacquie Galvez (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) and Kelsey Randall (Concord, Calif./Concord), has two goals… Haylee Eckart (Eugene, Ore./Willamette) became the eighth Raider to score with her go-ahead goal against College of Idaho… Keeper Devon Walker (Yelm, Wash./Yelm ) didn't need a save to earn her first shutout of the season and the team's first since the season-opener against Eastern. She has 36 saves in 18 halves of play.
