Third-ranked Concordia fights off SOU, 3-1

PORTLAND – Third-ranked Concordia struck twice in the first half and kept the pressure on en route to a 3-1 win against Southern Oregon on Thursday night in Cascade Conference women's soccer at Tuominen Yard.

Serena DeChristofaro (Martinez, Calif./Alhambra)'s goal gave the Raiders (4-9-1 overall, 3-3-1 CCC) an inkling of hope with four minutes left, snipping the Cavalier lead to 2-1, but Bobbi Eckler put the outcome to bed with the final score for Concordia (12-1-1, 5-1) in the 89th minute.

Alicia Kolter's 22-yard dart was the Cavaliers' first score in the 12th minute. Marie Kochman was next in the 34th as she took Eckler's pass and offered from 18 yards.

Kochman and Erin Huisingh were credited with assists on Eckler's score.

The Cavaliers got loose for 22 shots and nine on goal. SOU compiled nine shots and Nicole Franklin saved four of them.

DeChristofaro's goal, which was an eight-yard rebound job of Presley Lambert (Santa Clarita, Calif./Hart)'s shot on goal, was her first of the season. It was also just the third SOU has scored against the Cavaliers in the teams' last 12 meetings. Lambert was later credited with the assist.

The Raiders will return to the field at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against Warner Pacific. That one is slated to be played at Portland Adventist Academy.
