West, Park highlight SOU's thumping of William Jessup

KLAMATH FALLS – Courtney West (Sydney, Australia/Port Hacking) went for career-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds off the bench Saturday and the Southern Oregon women's basketball team dominated William Jessup from start to finish, 93-48 on the final day of Oregon Tech's Midland Empire Classic.

West went 9-for-11 from the field in spearheading 37-for-74 shooting as a team. The Raiders, who also put Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier) (14 points), Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Bree Park (Bellingham, Wash./Meridian) (17 points) in double figures, are 7-0 for the third time in four seasons.

Park was a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range. She had previously made five triples once, on Jan. 4 of last season, and needed eight attempts to do it.

William Jessup made just three field goals in the first 12 minutes the game, falling behind 32-6. They trailed 50-30 by halftime, and things didn't get any better in the second, where they shot 7-for-31.

Twelve different Raiders scored for the second straight day. Schoenherr added seven rebounds and four assists, and Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma) had five points and six boards.

The Raiders are off until a Dec. 2 exhibition game at San Jose State.
