Thursday, 1 p.m. – #6 SOU at #3 Corban, CCC quarterfinals – Live StatsLive Stream

ASHLAND – If the Southern Oregon University women's soccer team feels it has any demons from the regular that need to be exorcised, the sixth-seeded Raiders' Cascade Conference quarterfinal game at third-seeded Corban is a good place to start.

SOU (5-10-1 overall, 4-4-1 CCC) and Corban (10-6-2, 5-3-1) will play at 1 p.m. on Thursday on the campus of Willamette University (the game was moved due to field conditions at Corban) with a spot in Saturday's semifinals on the line. If the Raiders win they'll travel to Kirkland, Wash., to face regular-season champion Northwest, which along with second-seeded Concordia has a first-round bye.

Fourth-seeded College of Idaho and fifth-seeded Warner Pacific are in the other quarterfinal on Wednesday.

The Raiders lost their Oct. 4 regular-season game at Corban, 1-0, in what was something of a microcosm of their season. They outshot the Warriors, 14-11, and put more shots on goal, 8-4, but Randi Donahue's goal in the 71st minute was the only counter.

In nine CCC games the Raiders were outshot just once, by Concordia, and they matched Northwest and College of Idaho. SOU's shots and shots-on-goal percentages mirrored those of its opponents all season, but the goals didn't, indicating either bad luck, subpar finishing, or both.

The regular season ended on a high note, at least: The Raiders defeated Oregon Tech, 5-1, in their fifth multi-goal game of the season. They're 4-1 in those games.

"We've pretty much worked on a lot of finishing since then, that final third of the attacking part, just like we have a lot of the year," SOU coach Jenni Rosenberg said. "That, and we let them get their bodies refreshed a bit."

Playoff history: The CCC playoff field was expanded last year from four to six teams. SOU, the No. 4 seed, scored its first postseason win since 2008 against fifth-seeded Eastern Oregon, 2-0, before losing 2-0 in the semifinals at Concordia, the eventual NAIA champion. Corban was eliminated in a semifinal penalty shootout at Northwest.

The Warriors are 4-0 against the Raiders in the CCC tournament, but the teams haven't met in the playoffs since the Warriors' 1-0 double-overtime win of 2010. They're 2-2 against each other since then.

This is SOU's fifth straight appearance in the playoffs.

About Corban: Freshman Sadee Kallis owns a team-high five goals with two assists. Donahue, a junior, has four goals with three assists, including three game-winners, and Katelyn Fekkes has four goals and two assists.

The Warriors started the season 5-5-2, but they won five of six to end the season – starting with their win against SOU – and shut out every opponent in those wins. They outscored their last three opponents 8-0.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mendenhall has eight shutouts to her credit this season.

SOU leaders: Junior forward Megan McArthur (San Jose, Calif./Presentation) had two goals and an assist in the win at Oregon Tech, giving her team-highs of five goals and three assists to end the season. Presley Lambert (Santa Clarita, Calif./Hart) has four goals and three assists, while Kendra Madaras-Kelly (Boise, Idaho/Mountain View) and Kelsey Randall (Concord, Calif./Concord) have three goals and two assists apiece.
