Box Score PORTLAND – Concordia kept Southern Oregon out of an offensive rhythm and knocked down shots in the clutch, making the 13th-ranked Raiders 67-66 upset victims Friday night in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams at Cavalier Gymnasium.

The Raiders (7-1 overall) forced a turnover to get the ball back with 17 seconds left, but Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier)'s contested 16-foot jumper rolled around the rim and out as the buzzer sounded.

Sierra Dean, a freshman guard for the Cavaliers (6-1), got hot with a career-high 24 points on 10-for-19 shooting from the field and four 3-pointers, adding eight rebounds. Jordyn Peacock had 17 points and 12 boards.

Concordia claimed its first lead of the second half, 58-57, with a 7-1 run stamped by Dean's triple with 7:57 remaining. The teams went back and forth from there until Peacock's short jumper broke the 10th tie of the game to make it 67-65 at the one-minute mark.

Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma) drew a foul on the other end. She made her first free throw and, after missing the second, the Raiders couldn't take advantage of an opportunity to get the lead back.

Courtney West (Sydney, Australia/Port Hacking) notched her third double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) scored 12 points, Meister and Autumn Durand (Onalaska, Wash./Onalaska) had 11 each, and Schoenherr chipped in 10.

The Raiders shot 55 percent (16-for-29) on their way to a 40-39 halftime lead, but then shot 27 percent (8-for-29) in the second half. They went 16-for-26 from the line, while Concordia was 3-for-4.

The point total was SOU's lowest of the season.

Concordia, which went 8-for-20 from downtown and also got 11 points from Lexi Campbell, had lost five straight to the Raiders.

SOU plays at Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The Knights lost their CCC opener to Oregon Tech.
