Raiders dominate after halftime for 43-point win over Maritime

KLAMATH FALLS – Another installment of the Ashley Claussen show broke out Friday afternoon at Oregon Tech's Midland Empire Classic.

Claussen, 16th-ranked Southern Oregon's senior point guard, went 11-of-18 from the field and 3-of-5 from the 3-point line to score 28 points in a 98-55 Raiders win over California Maritime at Danny Miles Court.

The win was SOU's fourth in as many games, and Claussen has scored 20-plus in all of them.

The teams were tied at 27 with a few minutes left in the second quarter and the Raiders' lead was just 34-28 at half, but they won the third stanza 37-13 behind 11 Claussen points on 5-of-6 shooting.

As a team, the Raiders shot 60 percent in the second half (24-of-40) following a 29-percent first half (12-of-41). They forced 28 Keelhaulers turnovers, held them to 30 percent from the floor (21-of-68), and had a 57-40 advantage on the boards with 18 on the offensive end.

Autmun Durand had 12 points and nine rebounds, and reserves Kristin Smeaton and Taylor Nuttall scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Courtney Setzer scored nine points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, while Tinai Bradford added eight rebounds and seven assists.

Cal Maritime (0-7) was led by Amber Herrly's 14 points off the bench.

The Raiders play in Klamath again at 1 p.m. Saturday against William Jessup.
