No. 19 SOU blows by New Hope, 98-59

EUGENE Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) and Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) combined for 42 points and 16 rebounds, Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) tied a career-high with 15 assists and the 19th-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team scored with ease in a 98-59 win over New Hope on Tuesday night in nonleague play.

The Raiders improved to 21-6 overall going into Saturday's 7:30 p.m. rivalry game against Oregon Tech in Ashland. They led 54-36 by halftime and scored the first 12 points of the second.

West was 8-of-12 from the field, connecting on both of his 3-point attempts, to log 22 points and nine boards. Thompson went 9-for-14, helping the Raiders shoot 51 percent (42-for-82) as a team.

Weber, who did his damage in 24 minutes of work, added five points and eight rebounds. This season he's twice dished out 15 assists – the third-highest single-game mark in SOU history – and he's had 10-plus assists on 10 occasions.

Joel Spear (Adelaide, Australia/St. Michaels) added 12 points, Kenny Meyer (Sparks, Nev./Spanish Springs) scored 11, and Jordan Browne-Moore (Medford, Ore./North Medford) came off the bench for seven points and eight rebounds in 10 minutes.

The Deacons (4-22) made their first five 3-pointers to take a 19-13 lead before going 4-for-23 the rest of the way. They put three in double figures: Isiah Large (19 points), Carlos McLeod (15) and Nick Dillingham (10).
