10th-ranked Raiders pull away for 89-57 win over Deacons

EUGENE – The 10th-ranked Southern Oregon University women's basketball team put away New Hope Christian 89-57 as seven different players scored at least eight points Tuesday night in nonleague action.

Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma) went 8-for-10 with 19 points and Tiani Bradford (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City) posted 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds – all career-bests for the sophomore guard – to lead the Raiders, who improved to 22-3 overall and 10-1 in their last 11.

The Raiders moved up three spots in Tuesday's latest NAIA Division II coaches' poll, receiving their best ranking this late in the year since they went into the 1999 NAIA tournament with the top seed. They host Oregon Tech at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a Cascade Conference game, looking to work on their 12-3 circuit record.

Ashley Claussen (Scotts Valley, Calif./Santa Cruz) added 10 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals and Courtney West (Sydney, Australia/Port Hacking) had 12 points and six rebounds. Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier) (nine points, eight rebounds), Bree Park (Bellingham, Wash./Meridian) (nine points, four rebounds) and Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) (eight points, four rebounds) also got in on the action.

SOU led 41-32 at halftime after a 16-for-42 performance from the field but went 20-for-33 in the second half.

New Hope (6-20) got 17 points out of Jessica Logan. The Deacons shot 28 percent from the field and went 7-for-39 after the break.
