MERCED, Calif.
– The 16th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team finished off a perfect nonleague slate without much resistance Saturday, sweeping Menlo (25-19, 25-10, 25-16) and William Jessup (25-13, 25-12, 25-13) at the U.C. Merced Invitational.

Tyana Andrews had her second monster match in as many days with 18 kills on 33 attacks, seven digs and five assisted blocks against Menlo. Corynn Kopra put down 15 kills on 29 attacks with seven digs to lead the Raiders over William Jessup.

SOU's defense coaxed Menlo into committing nearly as many attacking errors (25) as kills (26) in the early match. Later, WJU had 25 errors compared to 21 kills for a negative-.038 attacking average, the fourth sub-zero average in the last five years against the Raiders.

The Raiders are 7-0 heading into Cascade Conference openers at Riehm Arena next Friday against Corban (7 p.m.) and Saturday against Northwest Christian (5 p.m.).

Kopra contributed 10 kills against Menlo, while Lauren McGowne had 33 assists. The defense was spurred by four assisted blocks apiece by Emma Gasman and Courtney Macklin, and Ashlyn Flynn's match-high 16 digs.

The Raiders totaled nine more blocks against WJU as Niki Small got in on seven and Andrews on five. Andrews and Flynn had four service aces apiece, leading SOU to a season-high 10. Flynn also corralled 19 digs and Andrews had 12 to go with her seven kills.

Laura Morse added seven kills and Niki Small five on just 22 combined attacks against WJU. SOU hit at a .319 clip for the match, guided by 32 more McGowne assists, after hitting .246 in the morning.
