Raiders make Wolves victims of most lopsided conference win in team history

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Southern Oregon, the nation's only remaining undefeated team, met winless Walla Walla on Sunday, and the teams' first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup went pretty much as expected.

The 12th-ranked Raiders' 115-40 win was the most lopsided CCC triumph in team history. Their 44 turnovers forced were the most in seven years. And the fourth-highest point total in program history was the product of 49-for-93 shooting, marking SOU's fourth-most field goals ever made in a single game.

SOU went to 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the circuit heading into next weekend's pivotal road trip to College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. The Wolves (0-15, 0-8) are still searching for their first win as a member of the NAIA.

Freshman post Courtney Setzer led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting off the bench, and she was also one of seven Raiders with three or more steals as they totaled 32. Sydney Mullings had 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting and four steals, Ashley Claussen scored 14, and Taylor Nuttall went for career-bests of 11 points and six assists.

Thirty-six of SOU's 49 buckets were assisted – just one assist off the program record, which was established in 1994. Demi Sahlinger dished out six assists, while Toria Bradford had five to go with eight points and four steals. Autumn Durand added seven points and five steals.

The Raiders pulled down 21 offensive rebounds and only committed 15 turnovers, allowing them to get up 41 more shots than the Wolves.

On a positive note for the Wolves, they stopped a streak of five straight Raider opponents shooting below 30 percent from the field. They had a 33-percent clip and were led by Kassidy Kuykendall (15 points) and Grace Wallace (10 points).

SOU outscored WWU 58-17 in the second half.

Of SOU's eight CCC victories, five have now been recorded by 45-plus points.
