Raiders cap perfect CCC road slate with 3-1 win at UGF

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – A year ago, the Southern Oregon men's soccer team was set back by a 2-5 road record in the Cascade Conference. On Saturday, the Raiders put a bow on a perfect 6-0 conference mark away from home by claiming a 3-1 decision at Great Falls.

The Raiders (10-2-2 overall, 8-1-2 CCC) stayed in contention for the CCC title going into their final two regular-season games, which will play out next Friday and Saturday against College of Idaho and Rocky Mountain at Raider Stadium. Both start at 12 p.m.

Carlos Magana scored for the fourth game in a row, his 10th goal of the season, when he beat the keeper and punched one in during the 24th minute. UGF (7-5, 6-5) tied it less than a minute later, as Camilo Martinez assisted Mohamed Oulare.

In the 39th, freshman Roberto Lupera tallied his first career goal with a diving header on Mitchell Pinney's assist. In the 76th, Pinney provided insurance with his fifth via Sean McManamon's assist.

The Raider defense allowed the Argos to put just four shots on goal. Jonathan Morales made three second-half saves.

SOU was out-shot overall, 15-11.

The Raiders started the day two points behind first-place Rocky Mountain (8-1-1 CCC) and one point behind Evergreen (7-0-3) and Corban (8-2). Corban defeated Walla Walla, while Rocky Mountain and Evergreen will match up Sunday in Billings, Mont.
