Yotes complete season sweep of SOU in four

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Southern Oregon volleyball team lost its chance to host a Cascade Conference tournament game with Saturday night's 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19 loss to College of Idaho at the J.A. Activities Center.

Brenna Meehan had a match-high 19 kills and setter Sydney Call recorded 50 assists, six kills and six digs for the Yotes (18-9 overall, 13-6 CCC), who completed a season sweep of the Raiders (14-11, 11-7) and assured themselves of a first-round home date and no worse than the No. 4 seed in the six-team CCC tournament.

Regardless of how SOU fares when it finishes the season at home next Friday and Saturday against Northwest Christian and Corban, the Raiders are locked into the No. 5 position. They'll visit the No. 4 seed – either C of I or Northwest – in the first round, and the winner will advance to the final site at Eastern Oregon, which clinched the regular-season title and No. 1 seed Saturday by defeating Oregon Tech.

Taylor Ristevedt and Emma Gasman recorded nine kills apiece to lead the Raiders, Courtney Macklin had eight kills and a team-high five blocks, and Nila Lukens added eight kills. Lauren McGowne went for 32 assists and a career-high 15 digs while Ashlyn Flynn and Kiley Barcroft recorded 21 and 14 digs, respectively.

SOU's momentum was lost with a 19-15 lead in the first set, which the Yotes turned around with a 6-1 run and Meehan finished with three late kills.

The Raiders ran off eight consecutive points in the third set after trailing 20-16 to keep the match alive but floundered in the fourth, where they hit .108. For the match, they finished with a .147 attacking average to C of I's .223.
